Indonesia vs Monaco, Romania vs Chad, Ireland vs Côte d'Ivoire — the tricky flag pairs every quiz fan should know.

Some country flags are so similar that even cartographers mix them up. Here are the 10 trickiest pairs and a memory hook for each.

    1. Indonesia 🇮🇩 vs Monaco 🇲🇨 — Both red over white. Indonesia is taller (2:3); Monaco is shorter (4:5). Same colors, almost no other clue.

    2. Romania 🇷🇴 vs Chad 🇹🇩 — Both blue-yellow-red vertical tribands. Chad's blue is darker (navy) than Romania's (cobalt). UN actually had a dispute over this!

    3. Ireland 🇮🇪 vs Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮 — Green-white-orange. Ireland has green on the LEFT (hoist side); Côte d'Ivoire has orange on the left.

    4. Netherlands 🇳🇱 vs Luxembourg 🇱🇺 — Red-white-blue horizontal. Luxembourg's blue is lighter and the flag is more elongated.

    5. New Zealand 🇳🇿 vs Australia 🇦🇺 — Both blue with Union Jack and Southern Cross. Australia has 6 white stars; NZ has 4 red stars with white outlines.

    6. Senegal 🇸🇳 vs Mali 🇲🇱 — Green-yellow-red vertical. Senegal has a green star in the middle; Mali has no star.

    7. Slovenia 🇸🇮 vs Slovakia 🇸🇰 vs Russia 🇷🇺 — All white-blue-red. Both Slovenia and Slovakia add a coat of arms.

    8. Norway 🇳🇴 vs Iceland 🇮🇸 — Both Nordic crosses. Norway is red with blue cross; Iceland is blue with red cross.

    9. UAE 🇦🇪 vs Sudan 🇸🇩 — Both red, white, black, green. Sudan has a green triangle on the hoist; UAE has a vertical red bar.

    10. Egypt 🇪🇬 vs Yemen 🇾🇪 vs Syria 🇸🇾 — All red-white-black tribands. Look for the symbol in the middle: Egypt's eagle, Syria's two stars, Yemen's nothing.
