States That Border Canada and Mexico Quiz
Thirteen states border Canada and four border Mexico. Canada, Mexico or neither, and which province or Mexican state is next door.
Thirteen US states border Canada and four border Mexico. Say which country each state borders, or neither, and name the province or Mexican state next door. The full list is below.
How the border states quiz works
Most questions name a state and ask: Canada, Mexico or neither? Others ask which of four states borders Canada or Mexico, which Canadian province or territory touches a given state, which Mexican state does, and a few records (longest border, most provinces). Each state comes up at most once a round. Harder levels ask more about the 17 border states and fewer about the obvious inland ones.

The near-misses
- Wisconsin reaches Lake Superior, but the international line in the lake runs past Minnesota and Michigan, not Wisconsin.
- Oregon, Wyoming and South Dakota sit one state back from Canada.
- Nevada, Utah and Colorado sit one state back from Mexico, and Oklahoma and Louisiana touch Texas, not Mexico.
- Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island are the New England states without a Canadian border.
- Montana borders three provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan), more than any other state. Texas borders four Mexican states.
